Heaven High & Low
The lucky residents who live on Bald Head Island
often quote Henry David Thoreau: "Heaven is
under our feet as well as over our heads."
Located just two nautical miles off the
southeastern tip of North Carolina where the Cape
Fear River meets the sea, Bald Head Island is the
last stop at the end of the state's famous
barrier island chain.

Nature trails for walking and golf for memorable outings.
A true retreat from the
everyday, there's no bridge to connect it to the
mainland. Instead, you must take a 20-minute
ferry ride across the Cape Fear River from
Southport. There are no cars on the island
either. Bicycles, electric vehicles and your feet
are the sole modes of transportation.
Unspoiled Beaches,
Sublime Golf
With your privacy assured, the
12,000-acre island complex becomes a serene haven
for your spirits to soar. Spread yourself out
along 14 miles of unspoiled beaches, enjoy 10,000
acres of protected salt marsh and tidal creeks
and explore a maritime forest of nearly 1,000
acres.
This variety allows a host of different
living environments in which carefully planned,
understated residences and vacation homes quietly
blend in.
Fifteen freshwater lagoons make smart shot-planning essential.
Amenities are headlined by the
George Cobb golf course, a top-rated layout that
offers stunning views of the Atlantic shoreline,
while winding around the island's maritime forest
and 15 freshwater lagoons. Tennis courts, two
croquet greenswards, a 25-meter pool and an
elegant clubhouse are all actively used by club
members and vacationers.

Everything you love about the beach is here at Bald Head
Island.
Boat lovers and anglers have
their places, too. A 10-acre marina offers quick
access to the Atlantic, Cape Fear River and
Intracoastal Waterway, and just adjacent to the
harbor is West Beach, a favorite fishing spot.
Start with a Homesite
One of the most
popular ways to get started on Bald Head Island
is to purchase a homesite. Current homesite
options include Harbour Village, from the
mid-$200,000s; Braemar, $400,000 and up; Braemar
Highlands, offering ocean views from the dune
ridge, beginning at $400,000. (All prices subject
to change without notice). Many resales of
existing homes are available as well.

The island ferry, the symbol of really getting away from it
all.
