Callawassie Island Club
Callawassie Island, South Carolina

Wide river views, easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway,
championship golf and
a private, member-owned community make Callawassie Island Club a
must-see property.
Description
Callawassie Island Club is an 880-acre,
member-owned, equity golf and country club nestled in the heart of South
Carolina's Lowcountry. Situated between historic Beaufort and the
world-famous resort of Hilton Head Island, and lying amid the Chechessee, Colleton, and Okatie Rivers which empty
into Port Royal Sound, the island allows residents easy access to the Intracoastal
Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean.
Callawassie Island is separated from the mainland
by a half-mile causeway, providing a peaceful and tranquil environment.

A Tom-Fazio-designed golf course weaves through ponds, marshland,
oaks and magnolias.
Eleven miles of shoreline offer incredible vistas of marshes and rivers.
The landscape includes picturesque golf course lagoons, stands of
Magnolia, Pine, Palmetto, Hickory, and Live Oak trees draped with
Spanish moss. Callawassie Island is the first community in South
Carolina to earn the National Wildlife Federation’s Certified Community
Wildlife Habitat Award and the 15th certified community in the nation.
At the core of the Callawassie Island lifestyle is
a 27-hole, award-winning, Tom Fazio-designed golf course with ponds and
saltwater marshes to challenge play on 15 of the holes. Four mild seasons make it possible to play golf, as well as
tennis, boating and fishing nearly every day of the year.

The River Club is available for casual dining and watching the sunset
over the Colleton River
Additional amenities include a community park and
private dock with a preserved tabby and fire-brick foundation of a rare
18th-century sugar mill.
Beaufort, Hilton Head and Savannah and are all
located within 35 minutes. Charleston is only 1.5 hours away. These
cities offer a wide variety of activities, including historic
preservation districts, art galleries, antique shops, fine dining,
picturesque squares, a symphony orchestra, the Spoletto Festival and the
world’s largest wildlife arts show. In addition, Beaufort has recently
been named one of the top five small towns in which to retire by Fortune
magazine.
