For the tennis enthusiast, Palmetto Dunes Resort has been ranked No. 2 in the world for Best Instructional Programs and Events.  The tennis center has 23 clay and two Nova "Pro Bounce" courts of which eight are lighted for night play.  Daily round robin tournaments and a wide array of instructional programs are ideal for visitors and locals alike.  USTA and Inter-club teams are also available for residents and second home owners.

For Water Lovers
An 11-mile salt water lagoon winds throughout the plantation providing beautiful waterfront properties.  Owners and guests can use the waterway to enjoy the well-preserved natural areas of Palmetto Dunes, a habitat for over 40 species of birds and fish. Kayaks and canoes are readily available.

Mediterranean-style Shelter Cove Harbour and deep water marina offer a delightful waterfront setting for shoppers and diners. Dockage for private boats, sailboats, and luxury yachts is available. Charters are on site for off-shore fishing, nature tours, and dolphin cruises. 

Shelter Cove is also a great gathering place for families during Harbour Fest throughout the summer months. There is complimentary live entertainment 7 nights a week, as well as fireworks, and a flurry of fun activities to be enjoyed by adults and children of all ages. Locals enjoy walking to a variety of restaurants and chic boutiques.

For additional dining experiences, the Dunes House is open for lunch and dinner featuring local seafood, burgers, salads and more at its beachfront location.  There are also two oceanfront hotels, the Hilton Resort and Marriott Beach & Golf Resort located within Palmetto Dunes, which offer a variety of casual and elegant dining.

Restaurants and shopping grace Shelter Cove.

Alexander's Restaurant and Bar is a local favorite and near the center of resort activity.  Trendy outdoor cafes and stylish restaurants are also available at nearby Shelter Cove.

Palmetto Dunes is truly set apart from other resorts in the Southeast. It is surrounded by water with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Shelter Cove Harbour on the other. The renowned Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront Course has been completely renovated.  The signature par-5 10^th has a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean and is one of only two oceanfront holes on Hilton Head Island.

The Arthur Hills Course is not only picturesque, but challenging. With ocean breezes, rolling dunes that create uneven golf lies and 10 holes sited on the water, precision play can be extremely important.  As college athletes, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson both tested their skills on this course.

The Palmetto Dunes courses have won numerous awards.

The George Fazio Course was named for its famous designer but built with the help of his nephew, the highly regarded golf architect, Tom Fazio.  It is ranked among America's Top 100 courses.
