A Beautiful Setting & An Active Lifestyle
Penn National was founded in 1968 and developed with care by the same stable ownership since its inception. With more than 1,400 acres, Penn National is a thriving community of more than 1,000 families. All amenities are in place and available to be enjoyed by you now—there is no waiting until a clubhouse is built or the golf courses are open.

Miller family
The Miller Family at the annual Friends & Family Day.

Although the community is not age-restricted, it has naturally attracted a predominately 55+ group of residents who appreciate the natural beauty of the 85,000-acre Michaux State Forest next door and the quality and variety of the amenities available to residents. We have two nationally-recognized, 18-hole championship golf courses – the Founders and Iron Forge courses. Since 1999, both have consistently been awarded four stars by Golf Digest's "Places to Play" and have also received top ratings by Zagat Guide’s "America’s Top Golf Courses."

No Retirement Taxes or Association Fees
Penn National offers many advantages for retirees. It is located in a state that does not tax retirement income. Furthermore, Penn National has no Master Association fees or charges, and there are no mandatory fees—amenities, such as golf, are a la carte—you only pay for things that you choose to use.

In addition residents may choose from a variety of homes, including single-family and patio homes, condos and villas while enjoying privileges of membership to the golf courses and have access to the clubhouse, swimming pool and tennis courts. A wide variety of clubs and activities provide networks for establishing friendships quickly and following your favorite hobby.

Top 10 Golf Courses
Two widely-acclaimed courses, both rated as "Top 10 Best Courses in the Mid-Atlantic Region" by Washington Golf Monthly magazine form the heart of the property. Both of these championship courses—the Founders Course and the Iron Forge—are beautiful to look at and play, and have also earned a 4-Stars rating from Golf Digest Magazine.

Founders course
The Founders Course features tree-lined fairways and a 7-acre lake.

The Founders Course (1968) features a classic blend of tree-lined fairways, large greens, sculpted bunkers and a 7-acre lake, while the Iron Forge Course (1997) provides a modern links layout with sculpted, bent-grass fairways that are more open to the forces of nature.

Penn National, PA
The Iron Forge Course is a more wide-open challenge.

The golf courses are enhanced by the scenic beauty of the adjoining Michaux State Forest and the 30-mile views of the surrounding farmland and Tuscarora Mountain to the West. The Penn National Golf Academy is an impressive 40-acre practice and teaching complex. Private lessons at the academy are available from Lorraine Klippel, LPGA Master and one of the top instructors in the nation. Penn National also hosts the nationally-known America's Favorite Golf School and USGTF programs.
