Ocean-View
Golf by Robert T. Jones II
The Robert Trent Jones II-designed Garra de Leon (
Lion‘s Paw ) Golf Course is the heart of the Melia Playa
Conchal Beach & Golf Resort. Jones fulfilled his goal of
creating another masterpiece, one that blends harmoniously
into the natural Costa Rican countryside.

Sun is plentiful and so are monkeys and other wildlife.
The
course can be challenging enough from the back tees (7,080
yards) to host a professional event, but one that the resort
guests will enjoy from the other three or four sets of tees,
ranging from 5,446 to 6,624 yards.
With
panoramic views of the blue Pacific waters from many of the
holes, the course meanders on spacious fairways through
rolling hills with sun-drenched fairways bordered by native
forests--keep an eye out for monkeys, brightly colored
native birds, iguanas and other wildlife.
In
addition, there are enough lakes and ravines to put a premium
on accurate approach shots to large Bermuda greens manicured
just like those at the best country clubs in the USA.
Careful
attention has gone into preserving and enhancing the native
forest and mangulars. Several lagoons and lakes have been
created to enhance the golfing experience as well as serve as
a filtration system for the golf course runoff. The seasonal
breezes will dictate your club selection and provide you with
an ever-changing challenge.

Condominiums are tucked in along the fairway.
Real Estate Options
Playa Conchal Resort is also a gated-community that offers an
extensive collection of residential choices--single-family
homes, townhouses and condominiums--all constructed to the
highest standards. The townhouses and condos in Phase 1 will
have magnificent views of the sunny third and fourth fairways
of the Robert Trent Jones II-designed golf course, the
five-star Playa Conchal Resort and the Pacific Ocean.
Playa
Conchal provides all the amenities that you would ever need or
want. It is secluded, yet accessible, only 45 minutes from
Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia or 15 minutes
from Tamarindo airstrip, which is serviced by smaller planes
from the capital city of San Jose.
The
master plan calls for a small “boutique” hotel to be built
on the point of the peninsula, an ideal place to view the
sunsets. Custom single-family homes, featuring traditional
Costa Rican architecture derived from colonial Spanish models,
are planned at the foot of the peninsula. There will be
walking trails where residents can enjoy vistas of the
Pacific.

The hotel has a commanding view of the Robert Trent Jones
II course.

About Costa Rica
More than one million tourists
visit Costa Rica each year, drawn by its impressive scenic
beauty, consolidated system of protected areas, social and
political stability, high educational levels, and its
efficient infrastructure and services.
Located in Central America on an
isthmus teeming with wildlife, Costa Rica covers only .03
percent of the surface of the planet, yet has an amazing 6
percent of the world's biodiversity.
All of this is offered in a territory
of only 42,000 square miles, surrounded by both the Pacific
and Atlantic Oceans, and at a distance from each other of only
three to four hours by land or 45 minutes by air.
Banks and Money
There is an ample selection of state and private banks in
San Jose, the capaital, and at least one major bank in every
large town. The official currency of Costa Rica is the colon,
but US dollars are accepted in most hotels and restaurants. US
dollars and traveler's checks can be changed in banks and
hotels. Major credit cards are widely accepted, and cash
advances can be obtained in San Jose.
The country's strategic position in
the heart of the western hemisphere and the Government's
positive attitude towards new business transactions, plus its
infrastructure, access to international markets, and
quality and cost of labor, have made Costa Rica an attractive
place to establish commercial operations.
